Munich North East

With the conclusion of the ideas competition, an important milestone for the development of Munich’s northeast has been reached. The prizewinners’ entries show visions for this new urban building block for the usage densities of 10,000, 20,000 and 30,000 inhabitants. The urban expansion area of Munich’s northeast is, along with Freiham, one of the most important strategic urban development projects in Munich. Depending on the density of usage, approximately 3,600 to 10,600 apartments can be built here to relieve the continuing high demand for residential space. However, at least half of the area should also be kept permanently free for existing uses such as agriculture and equestrian sports as well as for the preservation of valuable landscape elements.
